Senior Fabrication Track Lead

Position Description:
At a GlanceLegrand has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Fabrication Track Lead to join the Kenall Team in Kenosha, WI.
Be an advocate and strong supporter of factory improvement (VSM, Kaizen, Six Sigma, Gemba, Legrand Way, etc.
).
Directs the Metal Fabrication Track Leaders and associates to ensure the most effective utilization of available personnel and equipment.
Maintain maximum efficiency and highest quality, all to achieve objectives of the fabrication tracks including polishing of stainless steel.
Drives world class performance for Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost results.
What Will You Do? Train operators in proper safety procedures and control usage of company-provided personal safety equipment.
Establish departmental safety and ergonomic goals.
Ensure that monthly Safety Talk meetings are held, and documentation completed.
Follow-up with Track Leaders to guarantee timely completion of safety issues.
Leads Fabrication department ensuring proper carryover of production activities and requirements with an emphasis on product quality, service level, and factory production efficiency.
Takes ownership in department improvement and results.
Also reinforces the daily performance boards metrics and gives appropriate support.
Supports and participates in Legrand Way (LW) including Tier 2, daily production meetings (DPM), and completing H X H reporting properly and all Legrand Way requirements.
Mentors Track Leaders to develop their leadership and technical skills.
Working with Supervisor, VSM, Track Leaders and Planners, determines the proper staffing level plans for the varying weekly planned hours to work within established labor budgets.
Evaluates, monitors, and reacts to personnel reallocation in the factory needs.
Cross trains and rotate employees in all fabrication tracks.
Sets the direction relative to manufacturing goals to meet production and customer needs and expectations with the Value Stream Manager and Supervisor for Fabrication and Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
Identifies and communicates information to correct factory discipline relative to product quality and defect prevention, product disposition, and rework and/or repair activity.
Ensure a work environment exists for employees that provide effective communication between all shift team members to effectively communicate concerns regarding production using department production white boards.
Supports and participates in all ISO initiatives for compliance.
Excellent attendance with the willingness and ability to lead fabrication operations on weekends when necessary.
Maintain inspection of parts for quality and accurate quantity and work towards adherence to quality program.
Ability and willingness to understand all aspects of machine operations.
Ability to read blueprints and shop drawings to assure production is per prints and specifications.
Daily review and update of attendance records to complete payroll requirements on time.
Supports any Kenall sustainability initiatives.
Recommend improved methods, equipment, procedures, and systems to increase efficiency, quality, and good housekeeping practices.
Active participation in ongoing individual training / development program.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Required Skills A minimum of 5 years of manufacturing, preferably metal fabrication, and personnel leadership experience required.
Thorough knowledge of area of responsibility.
Limited supervision required.
Proven problem solving and trouble shooting skills.
Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing practitioner.
Computer skills and experience using Epicor, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
High caliber of quality control; strong skills in observing / inspecting processes and employees work.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills as required to discuss training, general direction, and other machine operations-related tasks, motivational to all employees in department.
Bi-lingual a plus.
Must possess positive can-do attitude and professional demeanor to work with customers, vendors, and employees at all levels.
Provide leadership to direct reports, effective management, development, and satisfaction of direct reports.
Resolve all problems in a respectful, tactful way.
High level of self-initiative and dependability.
Must be flexible to perform overtime duties or adjust schedule when required.
Resourceful and highly organized with an attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to manage, prioritize, and balance multiple tasks.
Ability to work within a team environment.
