Quality Engineer

Overview:
Quality Engineer with responsibility for supporting Continuous Improvement, Purchased Components and Merchandised Products. Support product evaluation, specification development, sample submission and approval processes. Will be involved with tracking quality and reliability performance; along with ongoing quality measurement. Will drive technical issue resolution, product improvement and supplier quality. Will also support Purchasing activity and manage the corrective action process.
Responsibilities:
Contribute to the development of comprehensive product specifications and drive improvement
Devise and manage sample submission protocols and sample approval process
Work directly with suppliers to improve quality systems and product quality. Drive supplier issue resolution
Work with Merchandise Suppliers to improve Quality and Delivery
Track warranty metrics for Merchandise Product
Conduct supplier audits and new supplier qualification
Track supplier performance metrics such as PPM, Supplier rejections, and corrective actions submitted
Support Supplier Business Reviews and Purchasing initiatives
Support special projects as needed
50% Travel required
Qualifications:
BSME / BSEE, or Related Engineering Field
3-5 years experience in Supplier Quality Management/ Quality Engineering/ Manufacturing Management
Good technical problem solving skills. Strong understanding of statistics and its application to solve problems. Six Sigma training preferred
Minimum two years hands-on production experience with blueprint reading, use of micrometers, calipers, height gages, hardness tester, optical comparator, CMM, and other measuring equipment
Experience with ISO9001 certification and compliance. Experience leading and conducting supplier and internal audits
Must be a detailed individual with strong communication skills. Must possess broad technical skills. Must have good flexibility and adaptability
Excellent communication and project management skills required. Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite Proficiency (Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Must work well in a team environment and be a self starter
