Project Engineer
Overview
Responsible for leading the design and development of innovative new product (hand tools). Identify opportunities and develop new concepts with emphasis on manufacturability, customer satisfaction, project timeframes, and potential profitability of designs. Project plans, schedules, progress, expenditures and priorities are regularly reviewed to ensure goals are being met. Primary interface with marketing and manufacturing.
Responsibilities
Identify new product opportunities using analytical and experimental techniques.
Plan, coordinate and complete complex technical research and development projects. Carry out ideas to enhance product and/or process performance in a timely manner.
Analyze and interpret data using good technical techniques and judgment to solve technical product problems.
Demonstrate project leadership skills and use technical background to reach relevant conclusions to meet customer needs and opportunities.
Continue to develop technical expertise to broaden knowledge within related fields to enhance individual performance.
Develop interpersonal and communication skills.
Prepare technical reports detailing project work including conclusions and recommendations for future work.
Design and help perform complex laboratory experiments to prove out concepts.
Qualifications
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Science and a minimum of 5
years related technical experience. Master's degree preferred.
Experience with automotive/engine repair preferred.
Able to complete project tasks and/or product enhancements using basic theory, engineering principles, investigative techniques, analysis, and judgment.
The individual has demonstrated abilities to innovate and provide effective solutions to technical problems.
Reasonable proficiency in Computer Aided Design software (preferably CATIA).
Demonstrated project management experience required
Experience with Finite Element Analysis preferred
